Well I made it through the holidays, but just barely. As usual work has kept me way to busy to do much more than sleep, eat, and go to work. I don’t mind so much the rest of the year but during the holidays I do like to actually see my kids and my husband rather than in passing. I guess it was a good thing I took Christmas and New Years off and just spent time with the family. Christmas was nothing special. I spent a large amount of Christmas Eve day doing all of the Christmas shopping; I always have plans to be done by December but that never seems to happen. After much debate with Dane, we decided a small vacation during New Years was in order. It was a toss up between Las Vegas to visit friends and Disneyland. The friends were our first choice, because I think we have spend half our life in Disneyland, but they were busy with family. Oh darn, that meant yet another trip this year to Disneyland (silently doing the happy dance). It doesn’t matter how many times you go to Disneyland it is always a fun place to be.
I think we have taken the kids to Disneyland during every holiday there is except New Years, and now was our chance. Let me just say that I am glad we went. We had an awesome time. However, those with young children should not go during this time of year, I would say 7-8 is probably the youngest I would take during this time. We did take the baby but she was dead by 10 pm and the loud music was not enough to wake her. There are a number of parties scattered around Disneyland, as well as, California Adventure, lots of loud music and dancing to be had by all. We choose not to mess with the large, mass, of Disneyites in front of the castle at that party but opt to go to the party near It’s A Small World. Pluto, Goofy, Chip and Dale were there to party with us and it was a blast. Of course, mom had to embarrass the children as much as possible. I swear there is something about the early teenage/pre-teens that get embarrassed in the stupidest places. Like any of the 64,000 people in Disneyland that night knew who I was or my children were, and we would ever see them again. The older children wanted to stay several feet away from me and act like they were way to cool to be near their mother. Of course when the DJ decided to pay Y.M.C.A. by the Village People, I knew this was the perfect opportunity to embarrass them even more. I waved them to come over and do the dance with me but they refused and looked at me like I needed a psychiatric evaluation. Jordan, however, couldn’t care less and joined me in the obligator YMCA dance moves….about half way through the song the 3 older boys showed up right next to me doing the dance themselves. I guess they figured Jordan and I were having way too much fun and they were missing out. Too bad I don’t have any pictures of that, it would have been worth it to blackmail them with later in life. The worst part about the night was the wind, the wind started to blow around noon on New Years Eve and didn’t stop until the 2nd. That meant no New Year’s Eve fireworks in Disneyland, which I was really looking forward too. Oh well, it means that we have to find time to spend another New Year’s Eve in Disneyland. Oh darn!
